I actually know someone that did that.

Brand new exhaust...on the car for 3 days and still wasn't loud enough. So...he took a drill to the mufflers.

Ah....kids do funny things with their cars huh?

Coupe midpipe is really your best bet... especially since it fits right in where the stock sedan middy used to be. I was very happy with this modification. As soon as you get a new muffler.. it starts getting a lot louder. There's a similar thread in here about the same thing.

I'm actually trying to get rid of mine because I have 2. PM if interested. Fair warning.. It doesn't have a flange to the Y-pipe (it's welded to my stock Y-pipe) so you would have to do the same...pretty cheap at the local muffler shop. Therefore, no need for a new gasket :-D

if your flanges/gaskets are all rusted like mine were, just have the muffler shop cut out the exhaust and weld the new one in, much easier and faster that way...if rust is an issue (im in chicago)

my flanges had a good amount of rust. I used a wire brush, some 120grit sandpaper, a dremel, and a file, and cleaned up the flange good as new. Took about fifteen minutes for each flange I picked up some new gaskets from Nissan, and new Grade 8 bolts from home depot and havent had any problems

Well in my case, we tried everything to get these bolts off the car.. but I was over 130k miles at this point... and we ended up breaking the bolts and had to cut the midpipe off the car. I really hated doing this.. but in the end it really made no difference. I'm going a different route this time around haha

just installed some berk HFC's yesterday that helped wake up my exhaust. my bolts were rusted on like crazy. Torched them til they were red hot then impact gun. Worked like a charm didnt strip any of the 10 bolts holding the cats in the car.

This worked great for me the other day actually, put 4 people in your car and drive over a speed bump.

Its a real antique, bought in '31 by my grandfather. I go to the Stowe VT antique show every august. I will look for a pic.
