Damn Mario that beast looks loud.......

And Tony, we tried everything including messing with the cam phasing. I'm starting to wonder if there was an issue with the dyno not working correctly, the numbers just don't make sense. Still extremely pleased though, thanks again for being so good to this community.

Tim,

It may be simple day to day dyno variation. For example, I could be doing R&D dyno testing on a part and spend all day on the dyno and get a bunch of consistent runs.

Then the very next day without removing the car from the dyno I can go through all the same warm up procedures and same number of runs the next day and see a 12 HP step shift in the dyno plots.

I've become very familiar with this engine's dyno charecteristics and have learned a lot about its variables, temperment and personality, but even if I do absolutely everything I possibly can to control all the variables.
Same dyno, same air temperature, same coolant temperature, same spark timing, same atmospheric conditions, same tank of gas, same temperature of gasoline.... it doesn't matter. There are some variables I have been unable to identify no matter how hard I try to nail them down.

I've used extensive ECU monitoring and even installed FCON engine management standalone to hold all the engine variables absolutely constant.... despite all that, that is when I saw the 12 HP step shift the next day.

I am unable to say why it does this but short of putting it on an engine dyno, there really is no way to completely eliminate all the variables.

Its possible you could go back to your same dyno tomorrow afternoon, redyno, and find a completely different number +/- 10HP.

One thing I do know is that it is best to do pre/post dyno comparisons on the same day.

Tony,

Thanks for the heads up. Even at my ripe old age it's easy to get caught in the numbers game and that's not what is really important. Engine performance and running properly/efficiently are the most important factors to me with any mods that relate to the motor. So with Osiris, my 5/16" spacer, the ARTs, XYZ, and VQ exhaust not only is my motor running in tip top shape with quality components but I gained significant power and it sounds so sexy I want to marry my car ATM.

I feel like a moving ad for MD but not one you can see, one you can hear over and over and over, and still want moar.

Thanks for everything, I'll continue to send anyone that will listen your way, you're a godsend for all of us.

Tony,

Thanks for posting this. I've felt the same way about the performance of these motors. I think it explains a lot in terms of:

1) Rediculous gains in tuning on a mild bolt-on of stock car that we sometime see posted on this site.

2) The inconsistent nature of engine performance from day to day and hour to hour. Some days the car feels really powerful and other days a bit doggish. Same atmospheric conditions too.

They have arrived

I took some screenshots of the V2.1's compared to the V2's. They are slightly different, but nothing significant. I won't be able to tell if they will fit now until I put them on. Maybe this weekend or next week I'll have time to do it.

On to the screens:

I will almost guarantee they will fit. I had about an inch clearance on both sides as previously posted. Peter had planty of clearance as well but for some reason his cat brace didn't match up with the new brackets. Mine fit like a glove.

OMG w/o the ARTs it will be beastly. I can't even imagine what it will sound like with the ARTs added, they made my twin resonated exhaust hella loud in an incredibly sexy way!!

I posted this earlier, but this is on the dyno: twin resonated VQ with ARTs

It was a LOT quieter before I added the ARTs but the sound now is soooooo sexy even this old guy doesn't mind the increase.
