How hard are these to install yourself? I took my exhaust to a shop to get it put on, but I cant justify doing that just for cats. Do stock cats ever get stuck on or anything?

And im about to buy the V1 art pipes and have an 04 coupe 5AT... how likely will I be to have clearance issues? Should I spend the extra ~150$ for a pair of V2.1's instead?

I think the only clearance issues were for manuals.. not 100% though.. ask tony aka hydrazine..

No, it was only on some of the automatics but its fixed now.

I FINALLY got around to putting the new ART pipes v2.1 on today (well, one of them anyway, more on that later)..... ANNNNNNNNNNND.............

IT FITS!!! Woohoo. I had about 1/2" clearance on the side that was hitting the transmission pan before. I couldn't get the other side on because one of the bolts is stripped, so I'll have to take it to a shop and get it cut off probably. So I'm running v2.1 on one side and the original v1 ART's on the other side, lol. It sounds better now though since it's not hitting the transmission pan. There's less drone as well.

Thanks to Hydrazine for the quick shipment and free replacement for my v2.0's which hit the pan also! Looks like the v2.1.'s should be fine for all G35's now, regardless of transmission

Yeah, I sent back the v2.0's. So now I have a pair of v1's and v2.1's. The v1's will probably go up for sale soon.

Video of my car with almost everything motordyne on dyno 262.8 whp on dyno dynamix (heart breaker) dyno on 3rd run after ecu reset... These V3 Art Pipes are sick as well as the rest of the mods..

So i've been reading up on what arguable seem to be some of the most awesome pipes you can get, i noticed that the tabs for the cat supports are now on the ART pipes.

What changed with the thinking on adding those, as earlier, i noticed they were left off for a reason.

They are not on the main pipe. That is where the support should not be because that is the part that is flexed every time the car goes over a bump. The main pipe should be left flexible because if you try to make it rigid, the bracket weld joint will likely break over time.
There are many examples of other brand test pipes and HFC's on the forum where brackets break off the main pipe.

The ART pipe side branch resonator does not carry any weight like the main pipe does.The bracket is not for load bearing and is only used to damp vibration noise.

Ahh, important detail there about the location of the support bracket, nice

I'm wondering about having to suck up the cost difference and buy these and the XYZ pipe from you directly and get the excellent support instead of going through custom cars central for the price cut.

I'm curious about the lost of power below 2k, is that a dyno measurement thing or does it actually lose that much down there?

Its real. But for some perspective, 1) there is much more loss with test pipes and HFC's and 2) we don't really drive much at that low an RPM unless its slow steady cruising.

Tony, Do the ART Pipes have bung holes for the o2 sensors and what if I need another one on the passenger side for my FRO EFI connection for monitoring my wideban? Do you provide these or do I cut and weld my own?
