NRG catch can install help

I'm going to install this tomorrow in place of the Greddy one I ordered, which is still 8 weeks away from delivery after ordering Boxing Day...no wonder Trust went bust.

I've been searching threads looking for install locations and have decided on the passenger side engine bay. Problem is none of the pics I've seen are clear enough on the bracket mounting location.

I've read that some people have had to move the overflow or power steering reservoir, that's fine with me.I was thinking of replacing them anyways. Also some help in connecting the hoses...What goes where? Included instructions severely lacking info.

Thanks

Will you post up what you did and maybe a couple of pics? I'll be putting one in next week and I'm curious as to how yours turned out.

Just a heads up...there is NO room in the pass. side engine bay for a catch can. I'm waiting for a Zirgo 13" coolant overflow that I'm going to mount behind the front bumper. Then fab a bracket and place the catch-can where the OEM reservoir sits.
You'll have to do something similar or relocate the power steering reservoir...I hate parts that won't bolt up without buying other parts to replace parts so the 1st part has room to fit.

there's room... take out headlight, there is an existing hole that can be used - or drill new depending on where you want it positioned... you can use one bolt direct to can (even without bracket).

This can be done even when using OEM washer fluid filler neck and rad overflow tank

Damn...it won't fit. Even though mine is an 04.5 too,the engine bay is different between the sedan & coupe. Thanks anyways.

Yeah bro I just bought an NRG as well thinking it would fit like in the photo above but no luck... I was wondering if we could mount it sideways like the ARC cans on top of the radiator fan shroud...you get what I'm saying? I think that all we would need to do is drill the two holes in the plastic...the width of the nrg can laid down sideways is the same as the plastic fan shroud...I will post some pics tomorrow of the location I'm refering to so you get a better idea of what I'm refering to...my only concern is if it's alright to lay it sideways...LMK what you think

I'm going to look there as well. Did you check the hood closing to make sure there is enough room to close? I might just pull a fender and the headlight like Mike did. Since I drive a sedan I think it will fit.

I read a lot of posts on my350 about catch cans and no one complained about having a can sideways. I'm not sure if I like the idea of the hoses running from the fan shroud to the engine, though.

I'll probably do mine Sunday so I'll let you know what I did.

If you got a sedan then you should be good to go(lucky) and yes it does clear the hood if sideways on the fan shroud...keep us posted bro.

you dont even need to remove the fender - just the front half fender liner ("splash guard")...

Mike,

Don't you need to pull the fender to remove the headlight? Or did you install yours with the headlight in place?

Also, what did you use for the fittings to your braided lines. I like the clean look of your install and was looking at something similar. Not thrilled with the coke machine lines that came with the can. It doesn't look like you used the fittings that were supplied.

just the bumper and fender liner - here's a DIY for headlight removal: https://g35driver.com/forums/lightin...ple-steps.html

... you might even find a way to mount without taking the headlight out - take off the fender liner and take a look (easiest when the car is up on a rack)... the way mine is didn't require bracket - but there might be a way to use the bracket... I had the car on a lift a couple weekends ago to seal the bottom of my can - I didn't pay a lot of attention to alternate mounting location(s), but there might be a way.

BTW, use oil/gasoline resistant sealant on the bottom of the NRG can... mine leaked a little and made a nuisance mess...

I got my AN fittings from Baker Precision:http://www.bakerprecision.com/redhorse1.htm

you can get similar from a lot of places
