Daily Driver Exhaust Questions

I know this is really an opinion question, but that's what im looking for. I use my 2004 G35x Sedan as a daily driver, I want the exhaust to sound more mean and aggressive when I really get on it but not all the time to the point where I notice the exhaust when im just cruising. I hope that makes sense. Anyone have suggestions for which exhaust I should buy?

^ Stickied since 2007....and with sound clips. Sound is very subjective.

A HR y-pipe and coupe mid-pipe with my stock muffler works everyday for me. Though I still want a HKS muffler.

I just installed the stillen g2. Its great. I went from 350z midpipe to the catback exhaust. Stillen is a little louder but more aggressive.

I've been running my Stillen Gen II and I love the exhaust note. It is noticeably louder but I enjoy it.

HKS is nice but has a bit of drone when cruising. May not be what you're looking for if you want it quiet when you're not getting on it.

I agree with this. I have had mine on for four years now and the sound has become just a bit louder and the drone a bit more noticable over the years. It's still the best $150 (used) I have spent on a mod though.

I love my HKS, but there is drone. If you are cruising and the car isn't working very hard there is very little drone. However, if you are accelerating or going up hill around 3k rpm's, there is drone.

The sound on full acceleration is well worth the little drone there is.

Even the stock exhaust has a little drone when cruising. Maybe i'm being overly ****, but when i drive my car around even with the radio on I can hear a low bassy tone which I am not really a fan of. I prefer the raspier tones of the 2nd gen because with the windows up and radio on you don't hear any of the low tones

I just put on my HKS. I hear a terrible drone that starts around 1,500-2,000rpm when the car is taking off from a stop and not really nailing the gas. It sounds like crap, forgive me but I had great expectations about the exhaust. I even find it on the borderline to being loud.

I like everything else except the crappy sound when just taking it for a normal drive.
Maybe, I am just getting old but I would rather hear the dual exhaust on my V-twin motorcycle if I want it loud.

If you are looking for a more of an amplified sound of the stock exhaust, perhaps just throw in a coupe mid pipe first.

Mine is not bad at all. Sounds great and drone is very minimal when cruising.
