Re: Coupe Midpipe on G35 Sedan
Not to worry about it, IQ9. I wasn't pointing the finger at anyone in particular; thank you for your post about the Z-car garage midpipe; however, when I went to the Web site (if you even call it that), all I saw was the logo "Z-car garage" with no information other than an address and phone number, so I ignored it...I'm so used to e-business these days ;-)
Besides, I wanted to go with the exact "G35 Coupe midpipe" which everyone else had been talking about for their G35 Sedans; I purchased my Coupe midpipe from www.PerformanceNissanParts.com. I think they call it the "G35 Sedan High Flow Midpipe" but I confirmed it with them that it is in fact the "Coupe Midpipe." Sure enough, it came in a Nissan box and the pipe itself is stamped "Nissan." I wonder if it's also used on the 350Z??? Again, it bolted up exactly; there were just a couple things that just barely touched it (and I didn't want it to cause a rattle), but they figured it out. It's on now, and it sounds great!

Sorry, never said anything because it wasn't a big deal. As far as the heat shield goes. I thought about removing it but decided to leave it. Isn't a driveshaft bearing right there? I think I reasoned that I didn't want the extra heat from the exhaust to bake the bearing grease.

The Z Car Garage pipe is the factory mid pipe from the Coupes and Zs. Mine is off the 350 that sits next to my car in our garage=)

Yes, the driveshaft is there, but I don't remember seeing the actual bearing and grease; I'll have to look. If so, maybe I will put the heat shield back on myself (if I can get under there somehow...I don't have any jackstands). Anyone else know if that heat shield is needed under there? Thanks.

You might want to check the pipe length. The 350Z is shorter than the G's, about 4 inches. I have the 350Z but did not use it. Its still sitting in the garage.
It would work if you get a shop to extend it or buy the extention but I believe the diameter in the extention will be large.
