as long as the OP doesn't make a decision based on bad advice - then there is nothing more that needs to be said...

OP, unless you have an opportunity to view the actual merge collector from the inside (where it matters most) - there is nothing to indicate one merge collector is better than the other... so that part of your decision making process would need something more than has been offered in this thread.
