03-04 Muffler

I've read a few times here that the 03-04 sedan muffler is smaller than the 05-06 and therefore is thought to give a better sound. Anyone have any clips of this? I've searched but no luck. I have an 05 and am thinking of going this route, instead of aftermarket. Sorry for posting a new thread on an exhaust topic, but I cant find anything.

And before anyone suggests, I've got a Magnaflow mid-pipe, Hr-Y, MD Spacer, K&N, and Z-tube. Just want a little more sound, not much...

My 03 with Z (same as coupe) middy sounded pretty good, but I'm also running an HKS now. You will get a pretty good bump in sound with the HKS with your setup, a smaller bump with 03/04 muff.

I will have to hear that in person first. I am very hesitant to go with any aftermarket system. I like the tone of the stock exhaust alot. I have considered Stillen, HKS, MD and Borla.. but for the money. Im not sure its worth it. Anyone local in Dallas want to let me hear your HKS axle-back Ill buy you a beer.

Should be cheap to try an 03 if you can find one, if you don't like it you're not out much.

What about 03-04 muffler & HFCs or ART pipes?

Does the 03-04 muffler flow better than the newer one?

Is anyone running HFC/Coupe or 350z middy/HR Y-pipe with a stock muffler?

Thanks Hotdawwgman, Ive actually seen all of those vids, hard to really justify a $400 difference between what I have and the HKS from a YouTube video.

Might try to find them both cheap and just post my results. Like SwivelHips said, I wont be out much on the 03-04 muffler. Prob can get one a junkyard. But again, if anyone has any clips I would appreciate it.

If you get the 03-04 muffler know that you will need the bracket, rubber hangers, and mounting bolts as well for it to fit your 05. It's not plug and play.

I have a friend who has the HR Y pipe on his 04 and we put the 05 sedan mid on last week and he loves the sound. He PM'd Dave back and forth and it was enough to convince him to try it. Hell of a lot cheaper than an HKS but not as shiny.
