Mike, you're getting rasp with the HFC? thats crazy. I never have had rasp with the Kinetix...through all the exhaust variations that I went through.

 

^are our resonators different? i am an 06 coupe.

no, our resonators have been the same. I was running a coupe MP for a while..

did you solve the rasp issue? The only time I ever had any was when I found a loose bolt in the exhaust between y-pipe and midpipe.

 

ive never had my y/mid pipes disconnected, but i didnt have a chance to check the cat bolts, but i got them awefully tight. i had someone ride with me that has an HR with stillen true dual exhaust, and he said i have more rasp than he does by a lot

 

What the hell is the point of having an X-pipe if you have it merging back into a Y-pipe?

 

Have you seen this one? Its designed specifically to alleviate rasp.

 

wait, i thought you had some new test pipes that got rid of rasp, this is a Y that gets rid or it? how much?

Because the X pipe reduces rasp/drone by design

Hey guys, not sure if this is the right area to post, but basically I have a busted y-pipe (right where it splits, the coils are loose). I don't know much about cars, but need to get it replaced. Of course when I ask friends they quickly respond to put a cool air intake on it. I'm clueless in this aspect, I really don't want to add sound to my car. Can you pros offer any suggestions? I really don't want to spend that much as well.

i do have a couple questions for you about that y-pipe

what is the difference between the y-pipe with the straight pipe and the one with the resonator as far as exhaust flow and engine heat buildup? will the addition of that resonator cause a lot more engine heat vs. just having straight pipe there? basically i was having a lot of engine heat building up with the stock cats and that is the reason for getting the hfc. i just dont want to go back to high engine heat conditions just to eliminate rasp. thanks

The resonated XYZ is on sale now $499.

 

The XYZ with straight pipe or resonator are both identical heat wise. With these parts, heat is not an issue.

Flow and performance wise, they are identical with the exception that the resonator makes a tiny bit more torque. They are all high flow and high performance.

It is possible you could attach a resonator to your stock Y pipe but the special fabrication it would take at an exhaust shop could end up costing more than a new (properly designed) part.
