HR y pipe or Tanabe y pipe?

I've searched and really can't find the info I'm looking for and need some advise.
I'm eventually going to be buying the Tanabe Medalion exhaust and I'm not sure whether I should stick with the HR y pipe I have now or buy the Tanabe y pipe.
I'm not looking to spend $300 for a 1-2 HP gain.
I'm really just looking for a deeper/slightly louder exhaust note. Any power gains I get are a plus.

When I installed the HR y pipe on my stock exhaust I def noticed more responsiveness in the throttle.
Does anyone have any personal experience they can bestow upon me?
Will the Tanabe y pipe provide a noticeable sound diff with the mods I will eventually have (below)?

Any input is appreciated.
Thanks guys

If you gonna gonna get the medalion its better to get the tanabe y-pipe. But if you gonna keep your stock, stick w/ the HR ypipe.

Can you elaborate on why?

Tanabe ypipe with tanabe exhaust is sexy... plus it's made for each other lol. You'll most likely to make good power too.

b/c the HR y-pipe (due to its smaller diameter) would act as a bottle-neck in your exhaust flow if you have HFC's and a Tanabe exhaust, albeit a small one.

The Tanabe looks to have the most efficient setup but are there any other comparable y pipes out there that may be slightly more affordable?
I know u gotta pay to play but it never hurts to ask.

I can actually get a really good deal on a JIC Magic y-pipe right now.
Is JIC just as good as Tanabe?

The Tanabe Y-pipe would be an upgrade because of the larger piping size giving you better exhaust flow. If you have the money for it its worth it. It will sound nicer too.

Have you dyno'ed it to see, or is this just by feel? According to one of the posts on here or at my350z from Tony at Motordyne from a while back, it is possible to go too large on the y-pipe diameter and lose torque. His conclusion, based on dyno testing, was that it doesn't matter what you do after the y-pipe merge collector as far as pipe diameter, but that the y-pipe upstream diameter can affect torque. Here is the post:

Though, it is strange that you are losing power since the Tanabe piping diameter is certainly nothing extreme...I thought 60mm at the primary end.

Great post from 5 years ago, however I wouldn't go with either y-pipe! Adding a true dual exhaust like HKS or Motordyne is far better than having a y-pipe coming off your HFCs, even Tony might agree!

The 2 pipes diameter is somwe 60mm and straight pipe in the end 70mm. But I have also Magnaflow cat converter that promised me gain in hp. Maybe the magnaflow is too restrictive?

Hard to say...not familiar with the magnaflow HFC. It could actually be that the magnaflow is too large in diameter. See the full text in the post I linked to.
