Oh I assumed the cats were on the y pipe. My bad. Are the before it? So you can install something like this and stay emissions friendly?

yes the cats are before the y-pipe. replacing the y-pipe will have no effect on emissions.

Ohh awesome. Thanks. So would it be worth it to buy just this without touching the rest of the exhaust, would I still see decent gains? any change in sound?

I dont see why all of u are hating...

I would have bought this pipe but the cheapest i found before was 300 on ebay.

if you got full bolt ons and going to tune this 2.5-3 inch y( esp with latter merge) with a 3 inch exhaust will make good power

If I didnt need my car quiet I probably would have held out for this but im rocking a borla.

How about this and a catback? For only $160 I feel like it's a good cheap Bolton that should flow ether than stock and free up a few hp but idk.

if you are keeping the stock exhaust other than this Y, you are jsut choking at a later point. you will likely see gains if you get hfc, this Y, and a Y back system. my 02

So even with a catback and the midpipe it won't really net decent gains?

With any exhaust don't expect much gains.

^what he said.

However as already pointed out, it would be better to pair this with any type of y-back system, preferably but not limited to a 3in single. This means an aftermarket exhaust system which mounts to the stock location of the y-pipe flange (like this y-pipe). You will have many many options here and you cant really go wrong if you get a 3 inch single from the y-pipe back (y-back).

This will then be considered a cat-back system (from the stock catalytic converters...back). I don't think anyone is hating on this y-pipe as there is no reason too, plus I don't think anyone even has this installed to make a valid argument. But anyway you look at it, installing a larger diameter pipe to the rest of the stock components will surely be restricted by the stock components.

but ay yo do your research. you're already in the right section of the forums so you know better than some already lol

yeah, a lot of the uber rare/expenive JDM single pipe setups don't include a y-pipe and charge over $400 for the upgrade.

Thanks for sharing!
I am looking to get this over the megan Y pipe.
Judging by the design, it's closer to the HR Y pipe than the megan Y pipe.
