Im pretty sure it would take away alot of the the signature sound of a setup like a JWT popcharger and z-tube but it would still sound more aggresive than the stock. Thats why the stock setup has all the extra chambers is to reduce sound. But its def a good idea, just like a lot of others have said dont like the metal tube and MAF relocation.

Anyone actually try the new Takeda cold air intake? I suspect that it does not perform any better than stock.

I went with the r2c powerflow, I am very happy with it. I believe its the only one that has low end torque, I also paired it up with a Cobb accessport, I will eventually get a protune..the power gain is extremely noticeable..R2C makes filters for the military. r2C

I'm down to try anything different and go a little faster. I just ordered today the back box and filter without the metal tube from AFE.

I plan on using the z-tube or the samco intake tube I have laying in my closet. I'm currently using a modified stillen airbox with apexi power filter.

I'll take pics next week wen I receive it. I also have a copy of the dyno they did on the 04 5at which was done in 2nd gear for some reason.

Looks like a good setup because it utilizes the stock airbox. The JWT popcharger would heatsoak if you werent moving because the heatshield only covered one side. This intake looks as if it is completely enclosed which is what I have been looking for. I rather not pay 600+ for an ARC box (completely enclosed), this is a good alternative. Ill be buying one soon.

sexyrob already dyno'ed the Takeda V2 intake. It doesn't make power over stock lol.

you are just looking at the final numbers. I'm looking at the A/F a properly tuned N/A VQ should be around 13.0 the Takeda is almost 3 points richer of course you will lose pwr if you are rich. The takeda had a A/F of 10.4 which is way too rich for a N/A car let alone a F/I car.

I'm not taking anything from his test, but I think tuned this intake may make power only a before and after with a tune will tell which I plan on doing with a z-tube or the samco tube with a 3in maf.

Let's see some tuned numbers. I do agree that the sexy rob dyno numbers were rich.

I agree with the design, the sealed box concept is the best in my opinion. The aluminum tube would be my only concern because of the heat under the hood. If a z tube would work with it, it would be close to perfect... Nice find though.

Are you going to widen the plenum neck as well? I wonder if a 3inch MAF alone makes power over the stock MAF, or if it needs a 3inch throttle body too.

Well im glad you guys are on this subject because with my jwt popcharger with heat shield and an aluminum z tube my A/F ratio has been around 12.6 to 12.8. I could see if it leaned out while getting into the throttle but it's during everyday driving, even while cruising. Im going to reinstall my stock rev box to see if it helps.

I reinstalled my stock setup and my A/F ratio is back to 14.7. with an engine temp of 210 degrees, outside temp of 68 degrees, my intake temp was around 70 degrees while cruising down the highway. With the same outside and engine temp with the jwt popcharger/heat shield and aluminum z tube my temps were around 95-100 degrees. That's a big difference. Im going to order the plastic z tube and be done with it. In my opinion the stock revup box, z tube, and a good panel filter is best for my car.

I recently had this intake dynoed last week and lost power with it.

I installed a 06 rev-up box with a new paper filter and pulled 263hp and 235tq on my tune A/F was perfect.

Next was the takeda back box with stock front, but instead of using their filter I used the apexi power intake.

Power went down to 254 and 226 tq and the A/F got rich so the tuner got the A/F to the same as the panel filter and it still made less hp and tq. He immediately said put the other one back he could tell the difference on the dyno.

I may try another test with the takeda filter, but I'm sure the results will be the same.

Now I'm wondering if I could of ran 12's with the stock intake instead of the stillen CAB back in Dec.

I will compare the 2 at the track this weekend if the weather holds.

Stock airbox is the best. These test were done with a 3in MAF housing. I'll try to get the sheet and post it up.
