NEW! Takeda intake. Greattt design!!!

http://afepower.com/shop/details_new...as&&brandID=78

Anybody heard of this intake before? I think is a great design. The filter connects to the front of the stock airbox utilizing the stock ram air ducts. I think using this filter with a z-tube will make the perfect intake.

I saw the same intake from a vendor here on driver & it seems pretty interesting. I was wondering if it would be the same as the stillen intake concept.

Pretty much the only thing is that the stillen intake box is not completely sealed and this one is.

/\ Oh okay... It'll seems similar to the enclosure for our stock box intake, which is what I really like about it's design. As well as it being an oil free filter. What's your take on the metal tube being you deal w/ the heat here in FL too?

It is actually a really good looking design. It uses all of the OEM front box and ram air feeds. It changes only the rear box portion, the filter style and of course the MAF location looks different. Can't wait to see some dynos of it.

Interesting, I wonder what that pipe looks like in person that picture makes it look cheap. But if I could reuse my stock ztube and just skip on the intake piping this may be worth it.

Yeap especially now. Well and I think the z tube being plastic will absorb less heat from the engine bay than a metal piping.

Well according to Takeda it produced 13hp and 15lbs. x ft. of torque on a 2004 Coupe w/automatic transmission but I don't really know if you can trust those numbers

Yeah I saw that too, you know that has to be the typical industry standard peak gains they saw from that one odd dyno that just produced high numbers.

It is still a great design and should maintain consistant increases in power throughout various temp ranges. Only thing I'd have to do to it would be repaint the hard pipe, I'm not a big polished fan.

Interesting... but my concerns are: metal induction tube, tiny filter, and maf sensor relocation.

This is the design I've been talking about for ages. It's good to see someone actually build. I agree though, metal intake pipes suck. That's a bad choice on their part. The other issue is that the OEM accordian peice in the intake serves a purpose, to add flexibility to the intake as the motor rocks in it's mounts. The engine can rock violently from side to side on launches and shifts. Without the accordian, you risk snapping the plastic chassis stay on the OEM front airbox and/or having the intake tube get pulled of the TB.

I'll buy this intake if three people post consistent 5whp+ gains across the entire powerband. Otherwise, I'll stick with my OEM Frankenstein setup.
