XYZ Pipe v. Osiris

So, here is my dilemma - putting a full exhaust on my car is kind of one of the last things on my list (both in terms of price and because I want to keep it relatively stock sounding for a while), and I'm debating adding the XYZ pipe and keeping the stock y-back system versus getting Osiris with the etune (current mods are listed in sig below).

My thinking with Osiris is that you get what, 3 etunes? So I could have it tuned for my set up now, and then whenever I actually go full exhaust, get another tune... would I be wasting a tune on my minimal mods now, and would the money be better spent on the XYZ pipe first? Let me know your thoughts, thanks.

If you are done with mods, def get the tune. If not, get the XYZ and tune later

are you planning on getting a motordyne exhaust? If not, i would opt for getting an HR y-pipe. Save your money and do not get a tune until after you have all of your mods in place...This will maximize your performace and save you $ in the long run.

Finish installing all bolt ons first.

XYZ pipe is great and much better than the HR pipe BUT the HR pipe is generally much cheaper. the XYZ is quite pricey but proven gains.

You should look into the aftermarket HR y-pipe which has the same design as the HR but with larger piping.

Just to clarify, I already have a HR Y-pipe on the car.

Also - if I went with Osiris, I wouldn't be paying to get it dyno-tuned. Correct me if I'm wrong, but they send you their standard reflash based on your answers to their questionnaire, then you go out and log a few runs, they look at your logs and give you an "e-tune" from the logs and when you buy their standard package you get 3 of these "e-tunes" right?

So I guess my thinking is, if I would get exhaust + Osiris as my last mods... doesn't it make sense to get Osiris and the 'e-tune' for my current bolt ons, and then get my 2nd of 3 e-tunes when I get the complete exhaust?

Or I guess maybe it doesn't matter that much either way, unless I'm totally wrong with how the Uprev/Osiris deal works lol

why would you want a tune for parts you plan to replace (exhaust)?

Since you are looking for power and a tune, get test pipes such as the ART pipes or conventional test pipes to maximize your gains.

Since you already have an HR, y-pipe might as well get a new mod.

I was going to run an XYZ pipe myself along with the stock exhaust and was told I would gain much power according through Tony via PM.

Test pipes will get you more power for you money with a tune VS a y-pipe mated to the stock exhaust. The XYZ has a 3" outlet while the stock exhaust has less than a 2.5" inlet. Also, ART pipes are cheaper than the XYZ pipe.

Because I would still have 2 "e-tunes" left under the standard package, so when I replaced the exhaust, I could get it re-tuned via emailed log without paying more.

That's a good point re: XYZ outlet/stock exhaust inlet, I didn't think of that. I had considered the ART pipes, but have to pass a sniffer test here in NC... so was going to hold off on those until I had the Motordyne exhaust (so I could sub in the HFC).

I see the point with doing the e-tune service since you could do the exhaust later but I remember in my conversations with Uprev that they do not modify timing in their e-tunes without dyno information. I would choose to get it tuned on a dyno, I drove from Charlotte to Wilmington to National Speed. They are Uprev authorized. Once you pay for the tune, you own the license so if wanted to add mods later you could always go back and just pay for dyno time. A considerable portion of my gains from the tune were from timing and not a/f correction.

Thanks Sloppy - that was actually very useful information to consider. Whereabouts in Charlotte are you at?

Live in Matthews and work off Morehead Street. I have not run across many modded Gs.

ART pipes aer not cheaper than the XYZ pipe. BUT gains should make them worth every penny

How do you go about doing this? I'm kinda confused on what you can and can't because I want to have ART pipes but then the XYZ with HFC option when I need to pass smog or fumes smell bad. Whats the ultimate MD set up? Can I run XYZ pipe, ART pipe, and then an exhaust like the shockwave or something?? Or maybe XYZ, ART pipes, Stock? I'm not familiar with how this works at all, what are my options?

Thanks

If you want to use both the ART pipes and the XYZ with HFC, you will need a Y back exhaust to connect to it. Either stock or aftermarket, but it needs to be a Y-back.
