I had a Z airbox and tried a few ways to fit it. Even splitting it apart and using the front 1/2 from the Z and the G rear section. Clips didn't match.

And you're right. The front scoop just sat right in front of some G stuff. But if someone made it fit, I'd like to see pics

I dont know what problems you guys are having, I have installed 5 or 6 of these and they pop perfectly into place.

They mount perfectly on the g35 bottom bracket . You jus got to make the bracket fit on the side because the only diff is the bracket on the side that holds the intake from moving. I cut a wide open hole in mine because the stock 350z opening for air is a lil to small so I cut the hole bigger for more air

The sedan is probably different *sigh*

We always seem to get the shaft... Good thing we're faster ;-)

Well, this is about what I fugured. So the airbox is pulling in air from behind the fiberglass shroud. Unless I'm missing something, I fail to see the advantage to this setup. IMO, it's full of disadvantages:

1) It's pulling in hot, stagent air from behind the shroud and right next to a heat soaked radiator.
2) You loose the pressurization affect of the OEM intake setup at speed.
3) The Z airbox actually has less open volume than the G's OEM setup. The Z only has one opening which is about 20% larger than the G's intake that goes over the radiator shroud. The G also has a secondary opening (ie The Power Duct). The combination of these two openings is significantly larger than the Zs. The Z's intake advantage is that it's source of air is a bit more open and direct in that it doesn't have to snake up between the narrow area of the hood and fiberglass shroud.

Filter changes will be cake though. But I agree, I'd rather have 2 openings than just one. I've tried to hybrid the g/z design though

Sean did his intake mod to my car, so i have air coming in from the grill directly into the airbox.

Okay, I get it now. There's a hole cut in the shroud, just behind the grille.

Exactly. The air is routed with a velocity stack and hose, of course.

Haha I'll delete the post if Sean wants me to, but I remember seeing some of his posts describing the work he does spread out in various threads .

Why does he think this works out better than the G35 setup with two areas for air induction? He must charge for this service right?

It is more direct I guess but it's still one less area to get air from

The only real advantage I see is that air doesn't have to snake through narrow openings to get to the G intake points. All this intake improvement stuff is all theory because no one has actually measurements at the intake or MAF to see if the car is actually taking in more air. I would a very easy test would using the data logger to note MAF voltage vs rpm vs throttle position. That's about as simple as it gets.

I'm assuming this is what SxExCx intake mod looks like.
