Re: best exhaust for about 700??

I'm in the same boat....but mine's a xmas present from the wife.

I am still deciding between the different setups, but stillen and borla are on the top. I thought about the fuji, but I dont' like the single exhaust.

If you do a search.. there are alot of clips of all the popular exhausts, mainly stillen and borla.

Keep us posted, and I will as well.

thanks

Borla... I did the research you're doing right now and bought one for myself.

Re: best exhaust for about 700??

does the Greddy SP2 make a very loud sound? and how much HP gain do you get? How's the quality?
I'm just being skeptical about this exhaust. it's just because Greddy is very cheap compare to other exhaust (Fujitsubo, Nismo, Stillen, etc)

Re: best exhaust for about 700??

the only reason the SP2 exhaust is so much cheaper than the others you've mentioned is because it is just a rear section muffler. the rest(Nismo, Stillen, FUJITSUBO) of the exhaust comes with y-pipe, mid-pipe and the rear muffler....(except for FUJITSUBO which the Y-pipe is an optional piece, whereas Stillen and Nismo comes with Y-pipe)..

you can buy the Nismo catback exhaust for around $850. which is a very good price and sounds awesome. my friend bought on for his G35 coupe.

Irvine.. I heard that Nismo exhaust does not fit g35 coupe perfectly and I have to get another extension pipe, is this right?

I believe the 6 inch extension gets the muffler far back enough to get on the hangers, but the tips will still stick out 2 inches short than your OEM tips.
Edited by gidontknow on 10/26/04 12:40 PM.

So if that is the case.. why is it that Nismo doesn't make an exhaust for g35 coupe that fits like a glove?

Re: best exhaust for about 700??

I believe they do in Japan and it's very expensive. I'm speaking mostly from memory of what I've read here, so you might want to search around here for some confirmation. I was hell bent on getting the nismo until I saw a pic someone posted of it on the G and really didn't like the short tips. I posted a question about getting the nismo and having an exhaust shop insert 2 inches between the tips and the muffler and nobody replied. I've since decided to give up on it and go with the greddy sp2. Even though it's only the muffler I like the sound and the look, and I don't have much expectation to get much performance out of any exhaust on this car, so I'll spend the money I save on a plenum, or cats. That being said, if I could get the nismo with longer tips for under $1000, I'd probably do it anyway. Here's a thread where we covered some of this.
