8 inch extension

I got this OBX (Nismo copycat) exhaust. Originally, I thought it was a fujitsubo copycat so I did not worry about an extension. Then I put my car on a lift and notice that if I were to install the new exhaust I would be about 8 inches short. Performance Nissan parts sells a 6 inch extension, but if my measurements were correct I need an 8 inch extension. Another member on this forum also complained about the nismo + 6 inch extension being 2" short. Does anybody know of such product??? Ideas are also welcomed. I am thinking about buying a 5 foot 3" steel pipe off ebay and have a muffler shop do the extension between the resonator and the flange..

Re: 8 inch extension

i bought an extension pipe from performance nissan....the tips on my BLITZ exhaust is not flushed with the rear bumper cut out, but i'm wondering if the rear section muffler will have any kind of clearance/installation issue if the pipe was 2 inches longer....

Re: 8 inch extension

The extension piece will not change the hangars of the exhaust, so it will sit underneath the bumper. An 8" extension will not work. I can guarantee you that I was the 2nd G35 to use an extension piece for a 350Z exhaust fitted onto a coupe. The first being my sponsors G35. Well he actually gave me his exhaust, so I could still be considered the first. The extension piece is made by my sponsors, Pro-1.

I have the same OBX (Nismo Copycat) exhaust. I purchased
the extension from Performance Nissan and it was 8" long,
not 6" as they claim on their website. Installation went easy
once I got the extension. To my eyes the tips seem to sit
in the stock location.

Re: 8 inch extension

Yeah. I called Jason at Performance Nissan and he informed me that they actually were 8 inches long. I have already placed the order. How do you like the sound and performance compared to stock??

Re: 8 inch extension

It sounds much deeper than stock, but not too loud.
To me it seems a bit more responsive than before, but
I have to confirm these gains at the racetrack to be sure.

Re: 8 inch extension

Correct, however. The 350 exhausts have shorter tips as well, so if you really wanted to do it right, you'd need the 8" extension, and you'd need to cut the tips off and weld some sort of extension there, otherwise it doesn't sit flush w/ the bumper, which A. looks tacky, and B. can screw up your paint.
