I had the hks exhaust when I had a 350z and found the same thing when I had the hpipe swapped for a magnaflow xpipe, I was shocked when I saw what was inside. the crossover pipe wasn't as un-centered as the one on your's though, but it still impeded airflow.

^I was waiting for someone to say that. I can guarantee if you cut open a MD exhaust it won't look anything like that, Tony wouldn't stand for it...LOL.

If anyone dares cut up their HKS to confirm my theory of the side branch resonators also having the protruding pipe inside the exhaust, that's double fail.

BUT, as I said earlier, this is a simple fix any exhaust shop can fix.

If your not too concerned about power, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Reason's to get a MD than a similarly priced HKS

High quality construction
Made in US
Owner is on the forum. Got a problem. PM him.
Independent dyno proven
V-band clamps
Guaranteed fitment
Different configurations in older versions.
Ability to use test pipes AND a HFC (shockwave)
ADD: No protruding pipes that impede exhaust flow (H-pipe)
Downfall: No "JDM" "status".
