"Power Duct" Mod & Ztube on a 2003 sedan *Video Inside*
Quick & VERY cheap way to make you're sedan sound better & more like a FX & G Coupe, I removed the "power duct" on my stock airbox (You would want to get some foam insulation tape or somthing like that to seal the hole up to you're hood, but this isn't a diy so i'm not going to get into it.) & I installed a Z1 Motorsports Ztube.

Let me know what you think of the sound

can't hear it until you get to about 4k RPM and it still isn't anoying or anything like that, i think it's a really good way to up the stock sound of a sedan and it only cost me 45$ and maybe 40min to do...and if you don't like it you can put the power duct back on in 5min with no tools, and if you really want to go back to stock you can put your gtube back in about 30 min, the reset you ecu again which takes about 5 min.
Outside you can start to hear it at about 2k rpm so crusing you can hear it a little bit.

I drove it with just the ztube & it was louder but once i took off the power duct it got way louder, it acts as a silencer & the silence chamber on the bottom of the airbox only works with suction so once you take the power duct off that "vacuum" seal it gone because it doesnt seal up against the hood as well so that silencer doesn't work either (at least this is what my research said) and i have no reason to not believe it because it has gotten a lot louder than it was.

... So let me get this straight you removed the only method of your intake getting cold air so you could your stock car just a little more?
All this intake crap is getting ridiculous. I understand its louder, and grats on modding your var to your liking, but I would never take the power duct off. It's only increasing your intake temp...

I'm going to seal it to the hood with foam insulation so it will just be a larger hole and still sealed from the engine heat

I ran this setup for a while a few years back. The downside is the heat issue. However, I solved that by taking some 1" by 2" foam and wrapped it around the airbox opening. When you closed the hood, it sealed up the airbox. What I didn't like about removing the duct was that it takes away some low rpm throttle response. My current setup is the G-tube with the resonators cut off and an OEM Powerduct opened up about 15%.
Here's what it sounds like from the inside.

I noticed the lag more so when driving around in temps greater than 75 degrees. I've swapped it around more times than I'd care to admit. Being an auto really doesn't have much bearing because I could feel a difference all the way up to 3500rpms or so.
