Question about ARK grip install

Whats up! Just got done installing my ARK on my X with my HFC. It sounds unbelievable compared to my invidia. But strangely not as loud as everyone says. Anyway, its sounds amazing except for at 2500 RPM there is a squeaky noise. Not a rasp or drone or hiss.. more like an un-oiled belt if you know what I mean. Could this be my HFC? A small exhaust leak? I will check it out tomorrow, maybe bring it somewhere with a lift. And I will post a vid. If Its coming from my HFC, I will sell them and get ART pipes (do they make them for the x yet?) or resonated GTM test pipes. Thanks!

I'm not sure what the noise was on that one.

Are you sure you know what rasp sounds like? HFC are known to make rasp on certain exhausts, especially Berks.

I believe that is generated from the HFC. THE ART pipes will lessen the rasp. You can even test it with a stock cat and you will see that the sound is smooth throughout the whole band

To be honest I dont think its the hfc. I think that either the gaskets I used between the hfc and the exhaust (oem) we too small (hole diameter) or there is a pinhole leak somwhere on the exhaust.. if i cant figure it out when its on the lift on thursday, I will try the stock cats and see what happens. Remember this was a rwd ark modded for the x.. the welds look pretty shotty so I wouldnt be surprised if there was a small leak.

I keep coming up with new things it could be. here are my theories.

1- pin hole leak
2- too small of a gasket between cats and exhuast
3- I think we put the x pipe section upside down (the brace is facing up not down)
4- a hanger is loose or rubbing

AHHHH. So some custom work has been done. let me know how things go. We will try and help you out as much as we can from our end. Only if you waited a couple more months. We just released an AWD sedan GRIP exhaust

Yeah I know you did but I didnt want to blow that much money and This one was in great condition. Anyway. I just went for a long cruise and I will now say that it sounds like a whistle from 2500 to 3000 rpm.. but its not just that, you can also hear the exhaust note but the whistle is at the same time.. I will take a video tomorrow. I am bringing it to meineke on Thursday so they can throw it on the lift and make sure there are no leaks/ tell me where the sound is coming from. Then Im going with my buddy to a tuner in Long island next week (he works on G's GTR's and Z's exclusively) so that he can re-do the crappy welds and Im just going to have him flip over the x section (we put it on with the bracket facing up) im not sure if that matters but I think its better the other way to prevent it from hitting the heat shield. And I dont feel like putting it on ramps to do that again so he can do it lol. If it is the cats which I doubt, GTM RTP..

Just got a call from the shop! He said the welds on the mod for the x were mig welded and horrible haha. Which is fine, I expected that when I bought it. He said he cleaned up all the welds and re did the weld for the passenger side muffler to make the tip centered. He said it completely got rid of the noise and said that it was one of the cleanest tuner exhausts he has heard.
