Breather filters - yay or nay

I just ordered a Stillen Intake kit, and want a new Z tube instead of the ugly one that comes with it, I was looking at the UTR carbon fiber z tube and it doesnt come with a nipple to put the hose on at the top, just the breather filter to attach to it. Is there any benefit or risk associated with this filter?

If you ordered the Stillen CAI/Z-Tube that comes with the big azz K&N filter the z-tube is black made of composite plastic and hardly noticeable. Anything else with a breather would be wrong and cause you issues you don't want or need! Breathers....

From what I have seen the UTR CF Z-tube isn't smooth on the inside in comparison to the OEM Z-tube. I know it is not what you asked, but thought I would offer two cents for consideration.

I found a used carbon fiber one from the z store (no breather filter) and bought it

The bumpiness on the inside is insignificant when you consider the diameter of the intake, 7" of area inside more then makes up for the bumpiness, this is about aesthetics

A z tube is best, a composite material will absorb the least amount of heat for the lowest price. (Compared to CF)

the "bumpiness" or texture of the inside of a carbon intake tube could actually increase airflow speed and efficiency... this is due to the way air flows at low reynolds numbers and some other people call it "the golf ball effect"
