Possible alternative to Z tube?

I was browsing around autozone and found this:

http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par...er=245770_0_0_

I know its some cheapy autozone brand but what difference would it be? its just a metal tube and it looks VERY similar to the ztube from Z1 motorsports found here

http://www.z1motorsports.com/350_g35...oducts_id=3929

The only difference with the spectre tube is that theres a hole for a sensor but you can easily cover that up. The sensor hole might cause some turbulence but at 40$ compared to the 60$~ from Z1 i say its a fair deal.

Would anyone consider this for their car? The only thing about the spectre tube is that its about an inch longer than the z tube which might cause fitment issues if youre using your stock airbox.

Wow, all of that for less than $20 bucks saved?? Cook a meal one night or don't go out drinking one night and you'll save that $20 to buy something that isn't crap... It is really sad to see people putting something crappy on their car when a better quality one costs a mere $20 more. Hell for <$40 you can get an oem ztube, can't beat that quality/price ratio.

Sorry for the hate, but you probably should expect more to come.

I really cant see the difference in "quality" its a freakin metal pipe. As long as its smooth on the inside and wont melt from engine bay heat i really cant see what difference the extra 20 or so dollars would do except keep my wallet full.

I thought the Z tube was plastic? Metal gets hot, plastic not as much.

I grew out of the intake bandwagon back in 2005.

Never thought I would see the day I agree with jibberjabbers, but I agree. I put my stock intake back on for a smog (don't have the sticker for my popcharger) and I'm now kinda considering not even bothering to put the jwt back...

Seriously, heatsoak mostly happens when youre sitting in traffic. Do you really need the extra 5hp you gain from having cooler air in traffic?

When you WOULD need the extra is at racing speeds wheres theres plenty of cool air to go around for the intake. I really think the heatsoak argument is over exaggerated.

Go right ahead and go with a cai, lose your low end for power where you are almost never going to see it. It's your car.

You should just buy it and be the first to have the z tube alternative
