Does the midpipe do anything other than add a lower tone and a little weight?

It may or may not offer more power. Their is a chance that is suffer's from the same flow problem as the sedan premuffler, then again, maybe it doesn't. The sedan premuffler constricts the pipe diameter into the premuffler body. Once inside it makes a simple lazy turn to the side. My sedan premuffler was removed in such a way that I can see right through it as well as measure it's inlet and outlet diameters. I was bored the other day so I pulled it out of storage and worked on it with a dremel, still the max inlet size I managed was only 2 1/4", though I almost got the exit opening up to 2 1/2".

Grubbs Infiniti has 6 coupe mid-pipes which are low mileage take-offs. They are $100 plus shipping and that includes 2 new gaskets. Contact Mark the parts manager at 817-359-4180 if you are interested.
