I want the Y pipe that has the flexible middle but without the restrictive bends - i guess the replacement would have mandrel bends..I will PM you when I get there

I've neglected this thread for awhile. I'll try to answer everyone at once. Yes, I do have a G35x (sedan). I replaced the suitcase (sedan mid-pipe) with the coupe mid-pipe then added the HKS muffler. In short, the coupe mid-pipe by itself sounded fine. But when combined with the HKS muffler there was annoying droning. So I replaced my stock mid-pipe back. Love the HKS exhaust note and it's stainless steel.
I replaced both gaskets with the swap and noticed that the one from the Y pipe to the mid-pipe basically crumbled off after removal. The gasket from the mid-pipe to muffler is a steel ring that's pretty tough. Anyway, the shop manual reccomends replacing both of these after disassembly so I went with it.
At one time I was considering the fujitsobo exhaust but I've heard that it won't fit the X. But the Fuji Y pipe has a flex middle.

The exhaust note is noticeably deeper, but not by much. I had an intake already installed, but I still noticed a difference after the install. There's even a slight gurgle as you lay off WOT, which is pretty sweet. It's also considerably lighter, but I didn't actually weigh any of my pipes. Performance wise, purely butt dyno, I really can't tell a difference.
All in all, it's a decent mod if you can pick up a midpipe for a good price. If I can offer any tips about the install process, it's to heavily consider purchasing replacement nuts. I stripped two of mine, even w/ WD40 on there for about 20 mins. Replacement nuts were $.96 each for me. If you do manage to strip your nuts, I HIGHLY recommend Craftsman Bolt Out sockets (you'll need #9). They worked GREAT!
Anyway, the gaskets should also be replaced as mentioned in previous posts. The part numbers are 20692-65J00 and 20691-0P600.
I did notice that the heat shield clearance is about a 1/4 inch which concerns me, but I'm gonna test it out for a week or so...so far so good. Other than that (and the stripped bolts) there were no real issues. In fact, all you need is a good set of car ramps to do the install.
All in all, I'm quite pleased w/ the mod. Only a sedan owner would be able to notice the difference in the exhaust note, but I still say it's worth it. Thanks to all who posted previously for your input! It helped a lot!

Sort of and Yes. The sound is very similar and from inside is wonderful. DIrect fit that can be done in 1/2 hour. Be sure to check that the shield is not to close to the pipe..it requires some bending. I'll be bending my heat shield a bit more this weekend if it stops frikkin raining.

I gave my mid-pipe to a local Sedan owner and installed it. It is a simple direct replacement bolt-on, it only took 30 minutes total. I am not that familiar with the exhaust note of the Sedan, but it seemed to be a rather subtle increase. I highly doubt it will add too much sound for anyone. You also save a good 25 pounds over that suitcase sized stock Sedan resonator. If you can pick one up fairly cheap or free I highly recommend it.
