Borla slip fit not flanged concern?
Borla slip fit not flanged concern?
Hey guys,
Is the fact that the Borla is not flanged raise any issues? Would you NOT buy it because of this?
"However, Borla is all
slip fit, not flanged. So there is potential for a lot of exhaust leaks
everywhere. "

That wouldn't stop me at all. I plan on having a shop weld all of the connections for me when I get mine. I had a borla with the same slip fit system on my last car and it never leaked.
I have read a few posts here and there on various G35 and 350Z forums of
people with the Borla exhaust and having minor exhaust leaks at the joints.
It would seem like a lot of Borla owners are having their systems welded
together, as well. One might ask, "Why? It's supposed to be a simple bolt-on".
The reason might be that it leaks.
I read that the Borla system comes with 17 pieces? And because of this,
it takes a long time to install.
I much prefer Japanese exhaust systems with smooth, solid piping and flanges
at the joints. This provides simple bolt-on, and no leaks with a good stainless
steel gasket at each flange.
