Magnaflow x pipe 11385 with stock muffler

I know that x pipe 11385 goes where the stock y pipe goes.

But my questions is that I have a 04 g35 coupe, I want to keep the stock muffler but replace the y pipe.

I know after the stock y pipe there is only one pipe going to a smaller muffler and then a other single pipe, after that It goes straight to the rear muffler with a single pipe.

And the x 11385 has 2 going in and 2 going out. How would I connect the 2 going out ? Do I used a y pipe? Or would I have to replace the stock muffler?

Thanks.

have custom tubes made from cats to x-pipe..then put a 2 to 1 connection after the x-pipe and connect the rest of your exhaust....not sure what that would do to the tone but i think thats what u were askin

OP, what exactly are you asking and/or trying to accomplish? Are you trying to build a true dual exhaust? of which case you would need everything from the cat and back to be replace..ie..by a new exhaust system.

1) x-pipe, or in this case an x-muffler, are intended for a true dual exhaust system. Where there's 2 exhaust pipes going in parallel from the cat back to muffler(s).
2) the oem system as you noted, is a Y-pipe system so the flow is already merging by design. By default, merging, defeats the purpose of the x-muffler or x-pipe to 'cross' the flow.

this is over-engineered, why put in an x-pipe if the system which by default merges into one flow anyways? bc wouldn't the 2 to 1 connector in theory be a Y-pipe?

Well I wanted to keep the sound of the exhaust but wanted just a little deeper and a bit louder. And I been reading that the magnaflow x pipe will do that. I also been reading that the stock y pipe restricts power .

I can replacing the stock mufflers. Been looking at the x02/m2 with the magnaflow x pipe. But wanted to see first if there was a way to just to replace the stock y pipe only.

Thanks

The X-pipe is only a solution if your exhaust is true dual... It doesn't really work if it's going to merge back into a single pipe after to go into the stock muffler.
