Intake & Exhaust Questions and info regarding various aftermatket exhaust systems for the G35 (Headers,Y-Pipes, and Cat-Back Systems)

Which do you think is a better exhaust setup for me?

Thanks.

I just came across a sweet sale on some HFCs...about $150 less than Berks, and brand new. Thinking about it. Would HFCs and the HKS muffler cause any droning, or would it be pretty loud? This is my daily and I have a wife and 1-year old that would like to be comfortable.

Very likely. The HKS is known to cause some mild drone and HFCs remove the precats therefore more exhaust noise and droning effect on the muffler. You could combat this a bit by installing the larger 03/04 sedan midpipe with the significantly larger resonator. It will cut exhaust noise by a good bit. It's not anymore restrictive, just heavier (~15lbs) and quieter.

If I choose to keep my car longer, I'll likely add the MD ART pipes, XYZ pipe, with inline cat. Depending on how loud the setup is, I can swap back in the 03/04 midpipe in place of the 05/06 sedan midpipe I'm currently running.

I just found a couple YouTube videos from Marinelli Motorsports that has the HKS rear and HFCs....it sounds like it drones a bit.

At this point i'm leaning towards buying the HFCs and trying both on the car to see which setup I like more, and selling whichever one I don't want to keep. If I can get a good sound and more power from the HFCs, i'd probably stick with that route. But if it doesn't sound good, i'll keep the HKS.

Update:

I received and installed the HKS muffler yesterday. It sounds good. I have also decided that I will get a tune as soon as I figure out my hardware situation.

So, the next question is which of these two should I keep: The HKS muffler, or the HFCs which will arrive Monday? From what I have read the install is a beast. If the power gains aren't worth the money then I may just stick with the HKS and call it good.

Thoughts?
