headers+resonated test pipes+cat back=
rasp!
I recently installed the Kinetix resonated test pipe to go along with my previously installed headers and cat back system (both Borla). Much to my surprise at 3k rpm, rasp dammit!
But I thought the resonated tests eliminated rasp??!!!!!
Well according to Kinetix (emailed response from the company) the test pipes when used in conjuction with just a cat back will not produce rasp BUT when combined with headers it's unavoidable. I have no qualms with Kinetix mind you this is just an FYI for those considering the addition or combination of these items. I will say Kinetix has been more than accomodating regarding this isssue, as they have always had good remarks about their customer service, by offering to switch my tests for high flows but at the risk of me losing a few hp. I'm still indecision on what to do, I don't want it to sound like rice. I think I'll have a buddy do a drive by so I can hear it from the outside then make my decesion.
On an upnote my gtimer says I'm up to 242 at the wheels on my 5at with the combo!

I've been reading on www.my350z.com for awhile about the kinetix resonated test pipes (i was thinking about getting these or unlimted tuning) and a few 350's had the rasp sound even without headers. Now i'm leaning more towards crawford cats.
How was the fitment of the resonated test pipes? I've read other complaints on that other forum that they rub against the underbody or heatshield or something like that...
See you at the Lokey meet. Its gonna be wild with the raffle prizes...

Zero problems with the clearance, plenty of room all the way around. Pipes bolted in without a hitch also.
I had a buddy do a drive by this afternoon and the rasp is only detectable from the inside. Going by it sounded great !
Now the question is, can I deal with the cabin noise and whether I should wrap the pipes to keep the sound down?
