debating on muffler options for coupe

i have an 03 coupe currently with stillen hfc and xo2 exhaust. i want to go quieter so im going back to oem y pipe and mid pipe but leaving the hfc. im debating on if i should put the oem muffler back on or go with a custom single axle back hks canister. i wanted to go with the greddy spectrum elite but the prices are rediculous on it right now. i dont mind the oem muffler i just dont like that it weighs a ton.

any advice/input is appreciated. i dont want another full catback though. so just looking for axle back options.

The y-pipe and the mid pipe aren't really what create the noise.

That is coming from the rear muffler (mostly) and from the HFC's. The HFC's will add volume and more of a crack to the note, perhaps swap those out first and see if the change to the sound is what you want.

The rear muffler deadens a lot of the volume.

HFCs will be the biggest noise producer on the exhaust, this is because the oem cats are the most restricitve part of the exhaust.
The exhaust should be considerably more mellow without the HFCs.

i know the hf will add noise but i want to sort of get the stock not back. and straight thru mufflers are always louder than the oem muffler. i will either go with the oem muffler, greddy sp2 or spectrum elite, or if i decide to keep the noise a jic spartan de single with silencer. ive also had the greddy evott before and it was wayyyy louder than the xo2 and i had a huge loss of power with it. the spectrum elite muffler is over 700 so im probably just going with oem muffler again and hopefully ill get the stock note back

im thinking about buying an extra exhaust. debating between jic single or the jic type 2 with oval tips. are these both obnoxiously loud?

Guess I'll stuck with oem for now and maybe make a bolt in axle back so I can change it up when I feel like it
