DIY Pop-charger heat-shield and air duct

Here's my heat-shield and air duct I made. I used a hard plastic for the heat-shield, dryer ducting and modified plumping fittings for connecting the ducting with the shield/core support. I plan to put an adhesive backed thermal barrier on the outside of the heat-shield. Id also like to line the edges with weatherstripping to provide a tighter fit with the hood and other body panels.

Here it is out of the car. I forgot to take a picture with the lower collector mounted before I put it in the car. Ill get a shot when I mount the thermal barrier.

Mounted in the car.

Here's a shot of the air-duct.

I thought about the hotter air coming in from the pavement over the oem snorkel but thought that this was pretty good because of the amount of air that passes through it. Do you think it would be better to use the oem piece? It doesn't look like it allows that much air to get in.

I can tell you just by feeling the air filter after driving with both heat shields that mine keeps more engine heat away than the jwt.

yup if u look closely i dont even understand how air flows through the snorkel cus the entire center area is block off at the grill. but thats how they designed it so it must work lol

^so air is not even flowing from the grill then? its still crazy im looking at pics of the engine and the snorkel doesnt make sense in regards to air flow and the snorkel sits above the tiny opening above the grille lol. but im not a engineer so idk lol

so i was looking at my grill the other day and this is wat i noticed. the middle area in red is blocked off so air is def not flowing throw the middle area. instead air is flow through the sides of the grill. the vents on the grill arent even angled upwards so imo air it jus flowing towards the radiater only and keeping it cool.

then somehow the air is supposed to flow upwards towards the latch area ( latch blocking air flow also) then someone the flow has to go upwards and sipped into the air funnel.

like i said im not an engineer and obvisiously nissan designed it this way so it must work but i jus dont see how air is efficiently flowing through the sharp angled funnel lol

air will travel through the path of least resistance a hole on top of the grill has less than the radiator, think about the whole concept of a radiator cooling plate. the reasoning is, too much air escapes through the access space in the upper grill. the plate blocks it off to redirect more flow to the radiator. not that hard to understand

as far as the "skinny" snorkel, the air that comes through the grill is pressurized. imagine a sponge w/a cylinder placed on top, one opening on the sponge, the opposite opening upward. at the base of the cylinder(the end faced on the sponge), there's a small slit opening. you pour water into the top of the cylinder, the water that can't be absorbed by the sponge, comes spouting out of the slit.
