Hmmm you are trying to save money on a intake setup and yet planning for a Turbo kit.....
I'm lost.

Lol it's funny that I fab my own using good material not air duct and no one has proof if there was any gain or loss and I'm getting bashed. The other funny thing is that I never posted saying I gained anything but it keeps getting posted so maybe I should seafoam my nuts. As for the listing of other cars I have built many different setups by hand so y would I not build something as simple as an intake. But it's cool I wish yall where local then we could have fun with this.

Sr build with all brake lines and wiring tucked most of build done with minor parts fabricated. Fuel lines are all done by me as well.

have to tell you, I was kinda scared to click on this pic lol with all the seafoam and nuts talk.....
keep getting alot of people asking about a cold air intake for the M and I told them they just don't have enough demand for it, so build one yourself, and the look was priceless.... but oh well....
glad it was an engine bay and not the other....

Skinny,

To answer your sarcastic rebuttal to their replies I must give you some facts hopefully you note this reply as informative rather than as an attempt to humiliate or belittle you.

Firstly, lets talk about RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

Unfortunately I do not have millions of dollars nor even ten's of thousands to put into perspective to run hours and hours of tests on a simple rubber hose nor even a PVC pipe for that matter to test what works best for performance and reliability. So in turn every time I make a mod a bug or two pop out days later sometimes even MONTHS later.

Nissan designed the G and Z tubes with lots of research not only recently but throughout the years. Think of it like this: If you knew what you know today 10 years ago, couldn't you make something incredible back then? Well remember all that knowledge only gets better so long as you continue to innovate. What your system is lacking is proper FLEXING. You bolted down a mass air flow meter to the chassis (DIRECTLY) By doing so you've caused an issue that you were NOT aware of. (VIBRATION)

See there is a reason why the tubes designed by Nissan have flex joints near the mass air flow. As the engine turns it causes harmonic vibrations, you don't feel them and can barely feel them as your posterior is planted on a seat and the engine is on a rubber cushion. But the engine is vibrating substantially. Now, remember that is just the engine... Now lets add pot holes, bumps, road wear, etc.... these are all things that have a big impact as well. By attaching the mass air flow DIRECTLY onto the chassis you are now creating a glorious vibration of hell into the sensor. Which will cause premature wear of that sensor itself.

So to answer your sarcasm with the truth, YES the Z tube has a ton of technology riding on it. Every day you turn on your car (well not your's) you have over 3,400lbs of matter that this one part is helping the rest function as one.

It's nice to be able to fabricate your own stuff, but the knowledge of knowing what you are doing and why you are doing it will also make that stuff that you are fabricating either successful or just a paper weight. But with all honesty you don't have to be a douche either. Constructive criticism can always help you.

Ps, you're not the only once creating parts from scratch.. Many members in this forum do these things...

Tony from Motordyne Engineering has made a good chunk of change and guess what he started here.

Shawn (S_E_X_X) sp? is another innovator

Green Goblin, yet another....

Myself,

But you don't see them bashing down or talking smack to members that are skeptic of a engineering accomplishment. Be humble, and enjoy the forum, look forward and seeing what you can bring to our community perhaps we can all share your wealth of knowledge and share ours as well.

thanks, yeah, this is for the 2013 he was asking for.... I told him the stock intake is probably better than anything you'll put on it, but some people want performance part/s even if it doesn't benefit them..... but thanks for that response

You really expect your intake to not have losses when it is basically a copy of all the other SRI's out there? Of course minus the different heatshields that still haven't been able to keep performance on the same level as the oem equipment. You are losing power, especially so if you are indeed from texas. Yet you expect us to praise you for putting together an intake that for all we know could not only be causing you to lose power, but also has absolutely no R&D put into it's design unlike oem, and on top of that is built out of components of unknown quality??

30 grand ?

on what?

titanium pistons with uranium coated skirts?

There is no where NEAR 8k in parts in that picture. Not even labor from Mazworx himself would run you 30k for a small 60trim snail

much less a LOG STYLE manifold...... like for real ?
