Motordyne XYZ with HFC

I am not looking to do any serious modding at this particular moment, but since the cats and Y pipe on the car is a well known bottleneck so my question is does this part...

http://www.thenismoshop.com/MOTORDYN...INE_p_445.html

...replace the restrictive cats that come from the factory with HFC?? i only ask because i have seen many HFCs go for more money than this does which includes the xyz pipe...someone set this guy straight

the xyz with hfc is after the stock cats. so if want to replace the oem cats you cn go with art pipes or regular test pipes and have the hfc with the xyz pipe. you could always get xyz with the resonator and just replace the oem cats with hfcs.

thanks for the response...that was kinda what i figured....but what would be the reason for the additional cat? doesnt make a whole lotta sense..

now i guess my other question is, with ART pipes is there a way to not throw the check engine light...so it would pass emissions testing...keep in mind that my state doesnt do visual inspection, just the plug in nonsense and no sniffer

but i guess my question is how do you manage to keep the CEL off when there are no cats? i figure that would throw a code somewhere...i have heard of a bypass but dont know a whole lot about it and whether it actually works

the attachments for the sensors are usually made far enough away that they do not cause a cel. there is usually a little material inside to also help not trip a cel

The art pipes have a specially designed bung that locates the o2 sensor far away from the flow of exhaust gasses, i believe i read somewhere they also put steel wool inside the bung to help prevent cel .

LongJohn, Motordynes best exhaust is his Shockwave where you have a dual system from the cats back. Combined with Fast Intentions HFCs you'd have a beautiful sound and be 48 state legal along with major gains in WHP. Often it's best to save your $$ and buy what works best....Gary

thanks for the responses guys..

i like the fact that these art pipes are designed so they wont throw a code.

and gary from everything i have read seen, motordyne really does their homework and puts out a phenomenal product,,,but 1600 plus for a cat back is a little more than i can afford to spend right now and pair that with a set of hfc and im looking at north of 2000...looking to keep my first round of mods at about a thousand

i know i know...im cheap as hell!
