Would a 2007 cat fit onto a 2004?

furthemore, is there a difference with the fitment (flanges) between CA and Fed spec? I've had my car since 34k miles ... cat went bad ... got a 2007 cat from a local junkyard and noticed the flanges are different.

Furthermore, I realized that my car was fed spec after looking under the hood when a friend mentioned it. (I bought the car in CA and reside there - I assumed it was a CA spec car).

Which of the reason (year or spec) is the cause for fitment issues?

If the cats were from a 2007 G35 SEDAN they will not fit. If they were from a coupe they would.

All the couples have the VQ35DE engine, the sedans got the VQ35HR engine in 2007
