New Exhaust?

I have an '03 G35 sport coupe and I've been looking at the Hi-Power Exhaust from HKS but I've been wondering if there any other exhaust systems I should look at?

I'm obviously looking for the power gains but also I'm looking for something that has good sound. And I have to make sure it's CARB legal.

It wasn't that obvious that you wanted power. The hks is a great setup for hp gains.

Motordyne is known to have good gains for the VQ. Sounds amazing and their art pipes are BUSINESS.

So...didn't you read he wants to be CARB legal? New smog regulations just got tougher in CA. with the addition of the star system. Did my smog check today and wouldn't have passed if I didn't have a CARB sticker for my intake. These are guys that two years ago hardly looked under SLICKS hood.

LOL what HKS gains? Have you seen dyno sheets of HKS exhausts? There is barely any gain whatsoever, our car's stock setup isn't too bad as is, and HKS design does very little to improve that. Especially if you are one of the unlucky few who got completely ripped-off by the piece of crap X-pipe, that you can't even tell if you have unless you rip apart your exhaust... There are many better brands imo, and I wouldn't go near HKS unless you absolutely love the tone and don't care about the gains or the production quality issues. Go motordyne if you want the best.

A major part of the restriction in our exhaust systems is the cats, looking at them you gotta ask yourself..."How does anything get thru there?" My HKS exhaust sounds great and I've installed Magnflow's X-Pipe because of their quality control issues. Buying a new HKS system I'd make sure they've corrected the crossover restriction. Nothing sounds better than my corrected/modified HKS exhaust with Fast Intention HFCs!

Very true about the cats, unfortunately not legal in cali unless you can get a shop or w/e to say your oem ones failed and needed replacing
