OK man, here is what yo need to do.

Look up Fast intentions exhaust on youtube. I think that is the VERY best and authentic to the engine sounding exhaust that you can get.

It also sounds good with FI resonated test pipes. Give it a try an tell me what you think...

One thing to remember is that each engine has its own exhaust note, you will not be able to achieve the same exhaust note from one car to another with a different engine

Jesse hit up YouTube for videos but know that an exhaust will sound completely different in person than it will on a video. Your best bet is to go to some local meets and hear the exhausts in person, that's the best way to truly gauge how you like them. The HKS and Motordyne TDX2 seem to be the most popular on the forum but you have a ton of choices.

I did check youtube and yeah I agree with you on that about the video sound is different from in person. if possible can you jot down some more name brands of the one's YOU personally heard in person that has a deep tone to it and from there it could give me a good selection of choices.

Fast Intentions exhaust, AAM high flow cats. Done.

Check the exhaust compilation thread. Pretty sure it's a sticky.

I agree with these guys. Hear the exhaust in person before you purchase anything. I heard some Borla and Greddy systems but wanted something a little ballsier. I installed an HKS before hearing in person and it is very droning. I can't carry on a conversation with a passenger without yelling. I am actually considering going back to my stock. I just feel douchey now. The HKS is borderline rice. I am still running stock cats and intake. Please anyone out there, let me know if there is something I can do to tame this beast down a notch!

For HKS and its clones, look into welding in a magnaflow resonated x-pipe. Very popular mod to that exhaust for the same reason you complained about. Search around for the parts and sound clips, should be pretty easy to find.

The only reason anyone installed the Magnflow X-Pipe on the HKS exhaust was their quality control issue! We had over an inch restriction in the crossover pipe, they wanted us to send the system back with the purchase receipt...can you imagine?
Best exhaust for sound and whp is Motordynes! That along with HFCs since most of the restriction is in the OE cats. To spend that kinda $$ you need to hear different systems in person, vids are only as good as the Wallmart systems they're recorded on! (rererererepost)
