Intake Problem?
Intake Problem?
Hi guys. So, I have an 04 6MT coupe and every single time it rains, it manages to **** up, and from what I've gathered it's because of my full Injen CAI. It extends down into the inner fender and I've never had a problem out of it since I installed it nearly 2 years ago, up until about last fall.
What's happening is when I start her, she will start fine, then start sputtering after about 2 seconds and the RPM's will slowly drop and kind of buck like it's trying to stay alive, then eventually die. From what I've been told, it's because somehow water is getting on my filter and messing with it, although I have no idea how.
My question is, is there any way to prevent this? I've observed the filter from every possible angle and I just don't see how water is getting to it, but this really bugs me. Will someone please help? x.x

Put back in your original intake. If you problem persists you are experiencing what is called hydrolock. This can cause your engine to cease up if you get water into the plenum.
I recommend you sell the CAI and just go with an SRI (Short ram intake). Your CAI may be able to be changed into a SRI.
