Drop in K&N filter w/ Ztube

2007 G35 Coupe AT

Hey guys. I've searched forums left and right and haven't really found what I'm looking for. After these 2 easy installs, I'm almost 100% positive I'm running lean. Obviously there's an influx of air. I dropped about 6mpg (avg 16). I installed this just over a week ago and probably put ~110 miles on it since then. Will my ECU relearn this new air mixture on it's on or should I do a reset (pedal procedure)? This drop of mpg is brutal at $4.35 a gallon of 91.

Thanks in advance.

You installed a Z-tube with a K&N filter, correct?

I would unplug the negative side of the battery for 10 min and then reconnect it. This will reset the ECU and it will be better adapted to the flow of the filter and Ztube.

Yes I did. I installed the K&N first. Then I waited a week to see if there was any changes, then followed with installing the Ztube. After that was when I noticed it was running lean. Will that disconnect mess with any of the radio settings, power windows etc?

You can also do the gas pedal reset. It's easier and faster.

I just did the negative terminal reset. Took the 10 minutes to make dinner haha. So far so good. My idle rpms were pretty low prior to the reset (450-500 after warmed up) but now it's at 600-700. Felt like the car was gonna stall at some points. Drove it like I stole it and I noticed a significant increase in power. Felt sluggish after I made those installs. I'll give it a full tank tomorrow morning and track my mpg.

The gas pedal doesn't clear the trend or memory data.
