Need help! Engine idel/stall after dropping in K&N filter

Hi, guys
Got a 04 sedan and bought a K&N filter intake kit and replaced my OEM intake without a problem. I didn't want to clean the MAF or throttle body although the TB seems dirty, just for safety. After I replaced it and started engine, everything was fine. But when I started engine again with engine hot, the idle rpm goes rapidly high and then to 0, engine stalled.

I tried this several times and got similar results. Only good thing is that when it drops I can press the gas pedal a little to bump up the rpm and after that it will be fine. Also when it runs on the road, the idle speed looks ok. Long story short, it only happens when engine is started hot.

I found some other people are having similar issue. I decided to clean my MAF and TB and see if that helps.

Any one has idea about how to get it right?

Thanks

Did you connect back up everything? How about that hose that was on the OEM intake?

Update: I took it apart and cleaned MAF and throttle body. Putting everything back and then started engine, it's a little high but then rolled back to normal.

Started a couple of times and the issue didn't come back. Will keep eye on it for another few days before I add a MD spacer on it.

Thanks

Just to be safe, you should do an ECU reset too.

Haven't done that yet. But shouldn't ECU learn it by itself? Also I have disconnected battery for a long time, shouldn't that do the same as a reset?

No..you shouldn't leave the battery disconnected for much more than an hour, the ECU forgets why it's there! When you install the MD spacer disconnect the battery first as it shows in the instructions and reconnect immediately after.

But after ECU lost its memory, it can start another learning cycle, am I wrong?
