New car, maybe has headers installed
I just purchased a 2005 6MT coupee. The exhaust is very loud and I really prefer the stock sound. I noticed that there is 4 inches of pipe added to the midpipe. The Y pipe and muffler all appear to be stock. Is there a certain header that requires additional pipe to be added to the mid pipe?

What does the top of the modified midpipe connect to? No way it fits the factory Y pipe, it's too long with the extension added. Did you ask the seller what's up? If you could snap a picture of the rest of the exhaust system that would help us figure what's up, I'm really curious to see where this goes.

And the Y-pipe is connected to the header; I could see it, but barely.
Here is a video of the exhaust. Let me know if it doesn't work. I really appreciate the help.

Here is what it sounds like, sort of. The video doesn't pick up the true sound. It also is throwing a P1078 code. I replaced the bank 1 ETC sensor with a used one, but it didn't make a difference. It's going in the shop tomorrow, but I'm eager to figure out what the issue. Does it sound like the cats are gutted?

The Y-pipe looks stock because it looked the same as on the g35 at the junkyard that I removed the non modified midpipe from. So is it safe to say that there are no aftermarket headers that would cause the Y-pipe to sit closer to the front end?

What I can't answer is why your exhaust is loud unless whoever installed the modified mid hollowed out/blew out the mid resonator or you have an aftermarket muffler.
Now I'm more confused than ever. You didn't show the back end of the exhaust in your video so I'll ask, does the muffler look stock? I think cakestar is right, the modified mid you have is a 350Z modified to fit a G. All of the shorty headers I have seen for the G end where the stock manifolds do and attach to the cats. FYI your Y-pipe isn't connected to the headers, it connects to the cats on one end, they connect to the headers/exhaust manifold and the Y connects to the mid on the other end.

I did bring it to a shop Friday and they said the catalytic converters and y-pipe are damaged and have holes in them. I'm hoping that changing those out will calm it down. Thanks for the reponse.
