Exhaust (No Smog/inspection concerns)
Hello,
Just purchased a stock 05 G35 coupe 6mt. I love the stock exhaust sound, but would like it a little louder. Looking to improve the tone of the stock exhaust but don’t necessaily want to buy a new one. I’m in a unique position where I can do anything I want and won’t have to worry about emissions. Would hfc or test pipes increase the sound of the stock exhaust (which I like) without making it to raspy? Eventually Id like to do the full NA upgrades (intake, headers, plenum), what would improve the tone but not set me up to waste money.
Thanks
Mike

Replace the muffler, same cool sound only louder!
"Welcome to the G35 Driver forums Mike!" The only mod you can make to your OE exhaust w/b to replace the muffler with a more free flowing unit like Magnaflow! Test pipes and high flow cats will drive you nuts with all the rasp! Factory cats are so restrictive and designed to work with the rest of the system, remove that restriction and it becomes over whelmed!
Again Mike, welcome and enjoy the ride...Gary

Maybe I misread the thread but it appears his end goal is doing a ton of mods. Art Pipes, stock y-pipe and Tanabe exhaust on mine initially, zero rasp. If emissions aren't a concern, might as well go all out.
