Exhaust cut out or manzo exhaust?

Hey everyone,

I currently have a stock exhaust system in a 05 sedan and thinking about upgrading. I am currently on a budget of that of a broke college student but would like to make my car sound better and perform a bit better too. I live in California so the strict exhaust law is scaring me a bit. Should I get a remote controlled exhaust cutout or get a manzo car back. I am open to more ideas within a decent price range. Thanks so much in advance!

The Megan will probably be the quietest cat back exhaust. And its a full 3" exhaust so you should get some minimal gains. That's the best price I could find for the full (two section) exhaust.

Stock sedan exhaust? Cut out some resonators or put in a dirt cheap used stock coupe exhaust. You won't gain any power off just an exhaust, or really anything else for that matter unless you wanna drop $1500 for 15 WHP. Save your money for maintenance (HITACHI CAM SENSORS, polyurethane suspension bushings, rear differential bushing, emergency parts replacement fund), or a newer car. Coming from a broke college student who wouldn't be able to afford to drive the G if I were out buying new exhausts and fixing up the car's non-mechanical issues.

I'm looking for an exhaust that has a good sound but not too loud to draw the attention of cops. Ill look into these and see how they sound tho!

Yea I know I'm not going to gain 15 whp but I heard freeing up the exhaust could help with power. I just got this car a month ago so getting a new one isn't an option. I just replaced bank 1 cam sensor and overall the car is running find. I usually do all my own mods and repairs as much as I can, so I'm not sure if cutting out the resonators is an option for me. But ill see if I can find an exhaust shop that will do it for cheap

You are looking at the stock exhaust then at your budget. Just enjoy it, even stock they are some of the best sounding cars on the road!
