xstar, have a listen to my dyno video and see if this is the same type of noise you experienced...

G-Squad Dyno Day - March 5, 2005 - SI_G35Coupe

PS - after having the 3/8" spacer installed for about 6 weeks (installed it not long after this dyno run), i am noticing some rubbing of the engine cover on the hoodliner... has this happend to you?

be very careful who you take it to. there is no dealer (that i know of) that will change your a/f ratio. they can't. that's why everybody is using technosquare. yes they are correct in saying you should get your ecu retuned to read the increased air flow to maximize your gains, but this isn't like any other car out there. i just hope they don't treat your car as such. just because they've done headers on one car, doesn't mean they can do it on this one. there is not a lot of room in there, and a lot of things are variables. there are many different ways garages have been doing this, i.e. undoing steering linkage, removing water hoses, some lift the engine a couple of inches, etc... i don't know these people, just saying be careful.

also, for price, depends on where you go too. i got my pulley, headers, reducer, and cats installed for $380 (they do a lot of 350z's). good luck.

well, the results of that dyno run were puzzling to everyone there... with all the mods listed in my sig (this run was done before the 3/8" spacer) it pulled a best of around 226whp.

i was quick to blame this weird number on the fact that i have a 5AT, but then AxionF117 goes and pulls a 228 with almost the same mods (no headers and Fuji Legalis R) with his 6MT.
my only other explanation is that my AFR is wacky... at the tailpipe it was reading around 14.2 (Axion's car was almost the same) which is about 1.0 higher than it should be? resetting the ECU using the pedal method gained me 1hp on the next run, so that clearly didn't do anything

i will try the rubber mallet method on the muffler and see if i can locate the rattle. and my engine cover the silver paint has actually worn down to black on the drivers side.

btw, off topic but your car has like the exact same setup as mine, performance wise and electronics (just get a mini Ps2 and we'll be clones)

yup both cars on same dyno, within about 2 hours of each other

no i didn't notice a big difference when i added the plenum spacer... i'm going to have my installer (Performance Motorsports) check the whole car over and run a few pulls on their Mustang dyno to see if we can figure it out

also the AF was at the tailpipe... i've been told that if i had a true wideband installed it would probably have read lower (i.e. at the cat or header)

just an update with my defective header. the suspect header was replaced, and after further inspection, found a pin hole in the inside weld where the pipes come together in the collector, very difficult to see. the black stuff around it made it easy to find after it was off.
anyway, new header on, omg!!!! hauls butt. i got a tiny rasp forming somewhere in front of the cockpit. it's only noticeable when i'm under load, so only about 90% of the time.

im another victim of rasp/rattling. not sure if they are from the headers or test pipes. hopeing they are from the test pipes. i do not want to replace the headers but dont mind replacing the test pipes with highflows. but some of you guys have rattles even with the high flows. damn rattles.
