What's more important to you, loudness or performance?
If you want loud, go with the test pipes. If you want performance, your better off going with the high-flow cats.
I've been told that you'll probably lose a little power with the test pipes unless you have a turbo or supercharger.
Just my 2 cents.

not sure about losing peformance with test pipes. never heard that.
i have test pipes now on my stillen exhaust and i am saving up for a set of highflows. i dont like the sounds of the test pipes. its not that they are loud, its that they are so raspy that it sounds like a rattle. friends have told me that it sounds like something is wrong with my car. i dont recommend test pipes. plus it makes your car smell like a zamboni.

I don't think you will notice much of performance difference unless you have a very sensitive butt dyno. Test pipes will significantly increase the sound level on any exhaust system and if you get them I highly recommend the resonated ones to help elimate the rasp MrBillMartin mentioned. They do smell too, but I only noticed it at idle with the windows down and it wasn't overpowering.

What MrBillMartin just said is what I was speaking about. The G35 DOES require a certain amount of back pressure (no, that isn't necessarily a bad word).
The question is, how much back pressure does it require and will the test pipes put you under what the required amount is.
Again, I don't know whether or not the test pipes will put you under the required back pressure or not. I'm just pretty conservative when it comes to stuff like this. My vote would be for high flow cats......just to be safe.
