My Crawford Cats installed (review)

Ok, my Crawford cats were installed today. These were very well built, as Tony at Jotech can vouch for me. Nice quality!

1) These things make my car (with stock exhaust) sound pretty darn mean! Kinda similar to a Mustang. However, it still keeps it's semi-Italian exotic tone at the same time. Very cool.

2) I did run into fitting issues, as I am also getting a slight tapping noise under the driver side. We bent the heat shield, but apparently not enought. I will be going back in on Thursday morning to bent the shield a lot more. This is an easy fix and I'm confident that it will work just fine.

When the car is in PARK, there is no tapping sound. When I put the car in DRIVE, it starts to tap. I think the car slightly lowers itself when you put it in drive, which would explain the tap.

Does this make sense?

I just received my Crawford Cats today. I noticed no instructions came with them. In the box were the 2 cats and a bag with 10 bolts. 8 bolts were all the same lenght and 2 were shorter. I know my way around cars but any instruction tips would be helpful.

To clarify what I was saying before up above.

The car sounds awesome when it's idling. Even when I rev it up, not ticking sounds.

However, when I put the car in drive, that's when the ticking starts.

Does the car actually lower itself a bit when you put it in drive? It sure feels like it. This would also probably explain why the ticking sound starts. I'm assuming that it then closes the gap between the heat shield and the cats.

I'm sure everything will be fine after I bend it some more. I just wanted to see if my theory held any water.

Posted this on another thread but just thought you might want to listen to some Crawford HF cats along with the Fuji exhaust and y pipe.

I had no issues with the cats touching the heat shield, I bent mine in about an inch prior to installation plus the cats were already dented slightly to get around this issue.

Right now when I accelerate really hard, the car sounds extremely rough. Rough meaning there is a ton of vibration underneath the driver's side.

If I could sit in PARK all day long, things would be great! It's only when I put the car in drive that things sound rough.

No issues here. Fitment and Workmanship were top notch.

I had my Crawford HF Cats put on last week at the Infiniti dealership. Never heard any rattling sound yet but, I own an '03 coupe (I even had the Infiniti service manager drive it as well another person name Neffster). I heard rumors that the '05 have an tigher fitting arrangement under the heat shields. Anyways, probably the best investment mod I've done yet for power and sound.

Ok, I went back and we made more room for the Crawford cats. Problem resolved. Everything is normal again, just a little louder and a little more power.

I'm still extremely happy that I did it.

We had to pound on the car quite a bit to make room for the cats, but everything is great now..............and who cares about what your car looks like underneath, right! Out of site, out of mind.

The driver's side cat was the one that had to be fitted.
The cat was bumping up against the underside of the car,
so we took a mallet and pounded the car into the shape in
needed to be in to fit the cat.

The passenger side cat fit perfectly.
