Stock Coupe exhaust system questions.
Since there's several coupe owners out there who have installed the Stillen catback system, could one of you please look at your stock system and answer the following questions.
Thanks in advance!
What's the size (overall length and diameter) of the Coupe's pre-muffler (resonator)?
What's the diameter of the stock pipe?
Is the stock pre-muffler a straight flow design?
Pictures of the Y-pipe and mid ("B") pipe would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Daveo
Some time ago I removed the resonator from my girlfirends coupe and I recall it was 2.5 in and out. It was a straight through design and was on there for good reason! It kept the waspish tinny crackle from annoying all those the car passed on acceleration. I doubt there is any performance gain from tasking it off.
Just yesterday I had a custom system installed and the sound and seat of the pants feel is unbelievable. I installed 2.5 inch full duals into a dual in, dual out magnaflow muffler mounted just ahead of the rear axle. This muffler has a built in X pipe so the torque should be improved and the sound pulses cancelled with the result being a loud, deep, very mellow sound. It really comes to life after 4000rpm and made the car more addictive to drive than ever.
I am going to post some pics when I take the car back into the shop and get it up on the hoist. I am certain magnaflow will be interested in seein the system so they can offer it as a kit.
Sorry for being so long here DaveO.

I'm looking forward to seeing your pictures Ted!
What's the size and part number of your new Magnaflow muffler?

Hi DaveO
The part # is 11386 in the aluminized 4x9" oval style. It is also available in stainless but I idnt see the point as the car is so low and the unit is tucked up under so why waste another 200 bucks. This muffler is claimed to outflow almost any muffler on the market except some of the dynomax race series which are the same basic design as the magnaflow. I think you should do the same system on your car, you wont regret the sound or the performance.

Re: Stock Coupe exhaust system questions.
I loved the 14" Magnaflow I had on my Expedition. It really made a difference in sound (beautiful) and power. The whole truck felt lighter and I always wanted to accelerate just to hear the exhaust note. Best part of the morning was turning the key and have that thing jump to life. If there was a kit from them I would definitely consider it. I'm already thinking hard about adding a Magnaflow anyway.

I also installed a dual exhaust on my 6MT coupe. I used a MagnaFlow #12468. It's a little bigger that the 11386. It's an X pipe with no baffles. I also used two 14" long Blue Streak Bullet Glasspacks. I used 2.25" pipes. I believe I need a little back pressure and the aftermarket guys are using 2.25" pipes. I put an H pipe before the bullets. The thing is awesome. The sound is throaty and smooth and really wails at WOT. The power seems up, but it comes on at about 3K.
