Updated Stillen for Sedan
Stillen has discontinued the original sedan exhaust in favor of an improved quieter system. One of their sales reps. said that this was in response to customer complaints. He said the revised system sounds much more like the stock couple exhaust, without any loss in power. Yeah, basically it appears Stillen has now corrected the flaws and made a decent exhaust. Unfortunately, I have the original. Does anyone know what they've changed, and if those of us with the original system can upgrade. Based on my experience with the original, much of the noise appears to come from the X-pipe section, not the muffler as was previously thought. This was somewhat confirmed by a forum member who substituted a Magnaflow resonated crossover for the Stillen X-pipe. Stillen seems to indicate that they've added/changed the resonators - the pics. of the system (including one install on a member's G35x) look pretty much the same as the original. Stillen must have moved things a bit to make the new system universal ('05s and X's now fit). Has anyone compared the sound of the new vs. original sedan systems???
I was going to post the same thing. I too have the orginal and it would be nice to upgrade(w/ just the needed components) w/out paying for the entire set-up. I replaced the muffler w/ dual magnaflows but doesn't seem to help that much. I'm seriously considering switching back to stock.
Found this stillen exhaust mod thread - might be a worthwile mod to the Stillen exhaust since I already butchered the damn thing.
