Fujitsubo Legalis R Exhaust System
Fujitsubo Legalis R Exhaust System
Installed my Fujitsubo Legalis R Exhaust Sytem. Thanks to my buddies who let me use their lift, tools, etc.
The Fujitsubo Legalis R is a street exhaust made by a large and renowned company in Japan. They are also the company that built the NISMO exhaust for the Skyline Coupe. The Fujitsubo Legalis is basically the same as the NISMO except for different exhaust tips.
Looks great, High quality welds, excellent fitment. However, the exhaust note is the most interesting. I love the stock exhaust note, but this exhaust is actually QUIETER than stock.
Looks to be 2.5 inch piping opposed to the 2 1/4 on the stock. I didnt' measure it, this is just a guess. It is much more free flowing and seems to pull alot harder at midrange and during freeway speeds of 60 to 80 mph.
Since it is so free flowing, there is decreased exhaust back pressure, which means the nice stock exhaust reverb that I loved is gone. I was hoping to get more reverb with the new exhaust and a louder deeper note, but this exhaust is softer than stock. It baffles me.
Regardless, perfect choice for someone who wants a quiet exhaust with excellent fitment, and much cheaper than NISMO. I paid about $850.00 for my exhaust. There are front y pipes available as well for about $500 extra, but I am going to go for an Espirit Test pipe set up that will eliminate the front 2 cats. It is from a 350Z, but I have to lengthen it. I will let you know how that goes when I complete it.
I am going to dyno the Blitz SUS power intake with the Fujitsubo exhaust soon and will post the results vs stock whenever I take care of it. My G35 Coupe did 225 hp and 218 tq on a 3rd gear pull on the dyno jet STOCK. Until then, enjoy the pics. Let me know if you have any questions.
By the way, I may sell it for $800 if anyone is interested. Like I said, I want a louder exhaust, so I will probably order a new Titanium model. At that point, I will sell the Fujitsubo.
Thanks
Edited by FlightG35 on 07/28/03 03:55 PM.

Re: Fujitsubo Legalis R Exhaust System
Very nice choice in exhaust system. A lot of people do not know about this Fujitsubo, but JDM enthusiasts would. I'm surprised that it is not louder than stock. From what I hear people say, it's supposed to sound REAL nice. Then again, they are coming from Honda and Acura 4-cylinders.

It's still a G thang!!

Re: Fujitsubo Legalis R Exhaust System
any performance gains? how bout some sound clips? strange that an aftermarket exhaust would be quieter. I'm guessing 'Legalis' stands for street legal sound? Are there lots of resonators or a big resonator on the pipes that may be acting as an additonal muffler(s)? I'm guessing that's what's keeping it quiet. Maybe if you deleted those resonators and custom welded a straight pipe it'll give you the sound you want.

Actually guys,
I believe it may be the combo of my Blitz intake filter mated to my exhaust that is quieting it down a little. There are no extra resonators to answer that question. I am getting an Espirit Test pipe custom mounted this weekend. I'll let you know if that makes it any better. It's ok though, it still has a nice throaty sound on throttle. Don't get me wrong, it still sounds REALLY nice... but I thought it would be a little louder with more reverb...
As for the question on how to get in and out of my car... hahaha... I usually back in and get in from the other side.
I just parked that way to take a pic for you guys to see the exhaust.
The wheels can be ordered from Wheel Options, but it may take awhile. I believe there is only 1 set left in stock. Mine was 1 of 2 sets. Good luck. Just tell Vic that Michael with the Black G35 Coupe on Work VS-XX sent you. He should give you a good price.

Re: Fujitsubo Legalis R Exhaust System
Thanks for the props Zen.
I also considered 19 inch Gunmetal Volk SF Challenges as well as The Work VS-SS. However, the VS-SS only come in an 18 inch sizing. They do look nice in the "Black Burning" color however.
If they came in a 19... I would have went with those.

Hey Flight,
Nice rims on that black G man. That exhaust looks like quality made stuff. I wish the borla I ordered was polished like that. I was just wondering, I was in the San Francisco area visiting relatives last week and my cousin and i were bored after dim sum on Sun. 7/27 and he remembered there was a car show in Sonoma that day and we decided to take a ride out there. I think I saw your car out there that day at the show. I didn't know about the exhaust though or else I would have stuck around to maybe get a chance to listen to it. You have a sweet ride though. Those are some of the nicest mesh wheels I have ever seen. They really look good with the color of your car. Did you ever think of getting the 20's instead before you went with the 19's? If so, what made you go with the 19's instead of the 20's? I can really use your input since thats what i am deciding on right now. Can't wait till I get my car. Take care.

Re: Fujitsubo Legalis R Exhaust System
HGS_G,
You should have stopped by to say Hi. I would have definitely fired her up for you to hear the exhaust and see the Blitz Intake that I have.
Thanks for the props on the wheels too. It was a tough choice to make. The reason I went with 19s is purely because I track the car, and I wanted a good compromise for looks and performance (20s have a weight increase and performance decrease over a 19 inch sizing. Tires are also harder to find in a 20 inch size).
Plus, I have my car lowered on HKS adjustable Hipermax Coilovers, so I didn't want to rub with the 20s. If you don't plan on lowering the car... 20s will do fine. Also, Work doesn't manufacture 20s in this model of wheel, or any as far as I know. Let me know if you have any more questions.
By the way, they put me in the Nissan Class and I didn't even place in the show.

Re: Fujitsubo Legalis R Exhaust System
Hey Flight,
I saw your car on the way out when we were leaving. I didn't even get a chance to see most of the other cars that were in the show cause my cousin wanted to check out the bikini contest, of couse. I am from Chicago and didn't want to get sepparated from my cousin and get lost. That would suck. I also found out that the G35's will be put in the same class as Z's in most car shows and due to the fact that there are just more body kit choices and mods out there for the 350Zs for now, we prolly won't be winning too many trophies soon. Oh well, I just think that there aren't as many body kits out there for the G's because it's just hard to improve on perfection. Thanks for the advice on the rims also, Flight. I will PM you next time I come out to the bay area and maybe we can hang out and talk G. The bad thing is that my cousin drives a Supra TT and he's my transportation when I am out there and he thinks the supra is the king of imports.
