Anybody gut out their cats instead of HF?

As the title states, has anyone gutted their cats out instead of replacing the stock cats with high flows?

i did that recently on the coupe. def felt power gains, car pulls stronger. compared to test pipes it keeps its backpressure (bc i didnt gut all of the, left some little part in) exhaust sounds stock but louder on WOT a bit throatier. however i get this weird ticking. i think i may have punched a small hole in it while using a freaking air powered chisel

Well when you go to sell your car in the future you'll need the car to be 50 states emissions legal. Each stock cat is ~$850 so if you want to save a few hundred now and end up spending $1700 later (or risk jail time or thousands of dollars in fines) that's your call.

What are you going to do when that piece you left in it plugs it up ? I take it you couldnt get it all out , so you just left it in

quick question, if you choose to go with the high flow cat, does that make your ride smog legal still? thanks in advance

just go for the crawford or kinetix.... i think neffster is right.... leave the stock cats alone.... too expensive to experiment with.....

A) i just bout a pair of used cats from a member on a forum. off a 350z. still have stock cats.

B) Its not just a random piece thats left in there. There are two parts to the cat. The major chunk of the cat i removed. there is a small portion still left in there. it is the 2nd part that i did not remove. I do not have a bad smell, and im pretty sure car will still pass smog. and still impressive gain
