New intake available .... non-cold air
Re: New intake available .... non-cold air
Without a heat shield, this will be sucking in hot engine air. Any chance a heat shield will accompany this intake? Looks nice! I have a Stillen and a 350Z duct. Sounds real mean! Also interested in the stabilizer and blow-by!

Re: New intake available .... non-cold air
When the car is actually moving, you really don't have to worry about hot engine air. Air will be flowing through the engine bay from the front grill, and the center air duct that channels air to the stock intake remains intact. So some cooler air is drawn to the new intake. It just doesn't have the "power duct" of the old airbox. All in all I believe it's a very worthwhile mod to have, and safe alternative to cold air. Back when I used to modify Hondas...I probably had 5-6 friends hydrolock their motors from cold air intakes. That's something I wouldn't want to risk w/ my new car. You *think* it'll never happen to you, but it can/will. Siezed motors weren't that expensive to replace for my friends because I worked at a shop, and we did all the labor ourselves. But as far as the G35....i don't have any experience. And I think a replacement block would be a tad too much $$ for me to afford at this point.

Those 'hks' type filters don't use oil right? I've heard too many problems from maxima people with the maf sensor of oil getting on it causing problems.
