Header install costs

Hey guys, I was just wondering what I should expect to pay to have a set of headers installed on my coupe? (BTW decided to go with DC Sports stainless steel headers) Thanks

Just landed a sweet new job, its mod time now baby

I think the book-time on a header install is around 4-5 hours. May take some places longer, some places less time. An average in the $350-$450 range is probably safe to expect. I'm allowing $500 in my budget to be on the safe side.

Ouch, that sucks considering the headers themselves only cost me about $450. If only I was mechanically inclined, and had a lift
I know where I can get it done real cheap, but Im not sure if the installation of headers is complex or hard enough for someone who will take a 100 bucks and a couple sandwiches as payment

I've read on this board that the headers are a pain in the **** to get at. Which is why the prices people have been throwing around seem high. I'm pretty mechanically inclined and have replaced headers in older cars I used to own, but the engine is so cramped I don't think it would be worth my time and aggravation....

installing headers is difficult....but if your patient and take your time you can gain a big shot of satisfaction if you like to DIY!.....it took me a whole weekend on the garage floor....i used 4 car ramps, but it was very tight under there! lots of wiggling around to get in just the right spot......a bunch of different length extensions is a must.....swivels and deep sockets are also helpful........i found a really good DIY here....its lists special tools and hints all thru the instruction......

http://www.350zforum.com/tech/NISMOR...neheaders.aspx

but you still need to use good judgement and think before you perform each step.....read the whole thing a couple of times to familarize yourself with all the steps....some of the steps do not include detailed instructions cause a basic level of mechanical knowledge is assumed, but all the steps are there......search here for header install and pick up a few more tips.....have all the tools and refreshments ready to go .....

it took Performance Motorsports in Hicksville, LI just shy of 7 hours to install my headers along with my cats and Y-pipe. their labor was around $80 per hour so it worked out to be almost $600.

I left my car w/my mechanic all day, so he was able to take his time to work on them in between other jobs. Got a very good price, although I know he mentioned it was fairly difficult to get at a few of the nuts...

Thats a bit high..We would have charged you $425 for the headers and threw in the Cats and Y pipe in for free since they were off the car already..
